The King David Range

Many conflicting theories exist for the origin of the Jewish Star of David or ‘Magen Dovid’ as it is called in Hebrew. Some say that the six points of the star symbolize G-d's rule over the universe in all six directions: north, south, east, west, up and down. Others find of the opposition of the two triangles significant – perhaps representing fire and water or good and bad. The Jewish star has both happy and sad connotations – it was used to label Jews during the Holocaust, intending to humiliate them. However, in recent times it has become a symbol of great pride as the centre piece on the flag of the Jewish state.

Our tiles in the King David range celebrate the Star of David and we hope that bringing its presence into your home will give you comfort and pride.

There are three styles of 4.25" tile:

Tehilla – the Hebrew for ‘psalm’. The psalms and are still used today and many are attributed to King David (seventy-three Psalms contain his name). This tile is clean and simple. It has lovely, earthy colours that bring out the warmth in the wooden base products.

Judah – the tribe King David descended from. The central Hebrew word in this tile is ‘Chai’ which means ‘life’. This word is commonly found in many Judaic decorations and products. It is a term symbolising hope and longevity.

Bathsheba – One of King David’s wives and the mother of his son and successor, Solomon. This fresh, light design adds a splash of colour and brightness to our products, and in turn to your home.
